Over the past few years, the PCO (Professional Congress Organizer) glossary has welcomed a new term: bleisure.

A blend of the words business and leisure, bleisure refers to a hybrid form of travel that combines a business trip with leisure experiences. Alongside meetings and work commitments, participants have the opportunity to enjoy recreational activities, excursions, and opportunities to discover the host city and its surrounding area.

Food and wine tastings, walking tours, guided visits, and unique, innovative experiences: bleisure can take many different forms. The key is ensuring that these activities are tailored to the participants’ interests, seamlessly integrated into the business agenda, and closely connected to the destination itself. Rather than offering generic, one-size-fits-all experiences, the goal is to showcase authentic local highlights—such as tastings of regional specialties or excursions that reveal the area’s distinctive character, often through the knowledge and expertise of local guides.
