When organising an international event, one of the first aspects to address—alongside logistics and hospitality for international guests—is the translation of speakers’ presentations.

Simultaneous interpretation is often the ideal solution for several reasons. It is particularly effective for events with a packed agenda, as it eliminates the need for consecutive translation, avoids extending the programme, and allows the audience to follow every presentation smoothly and without interruption.

Whether the event uses individual headsets or an oversound system, the technical setup is essential. Interpreters require acoustically insulated booths where they can listen to the speaker and provide real-time interpretation without external noise or distractions, using professional consoles and headsets. These booths must comply with current regulations—which differ for permanent and mobile booths—and should be positioned to ensure a clear view of the speakers, either directly or via a video screen.

At the Generali Convention Center Trieste, for example, the Generali Auditorium provides the space required to install mobile interpretation booths in an ideal position, both in relation to the stage and to the control room.
