G20 Italy 2021

On August 5th and 6th, 2021, Trieste Convention Center hosted the Meeting of Digital Ministers of the Italian G20 Presidency, bringing together delegates responsible for digital policies from G20 member countries and invited nations. The event, totaling approximately 300 guests, included representatives from international organizations such as the OECD and UNESCO. The Italian Minister for Technological Innovation and Digital Transition, Vittorio Colao, and the Italian Minister of Economic Development, Giancarlo Giorgetti, attended the event as well.

The meeting, which continued the ministers’ discussions on the themes of People, Planet, and Prosperity under the Italian G20 presidency initiated in February 2021, served as a platform for dialogue and the sharing of best practices among ministers responsible for science and innovation. The discussions were organized into two areas – Digital Economy and Digital Government – aligning with Trieste’s identity as a City of Science.

The proceedings concluded with the adoption of a ‘Joint Declaration on Enhancing Research, Higher Education, and Digitalization for a Strong, Sustainable, Resilient, and Inclusive Recovery.’
