6 March 2024Generali and TCC-Trieste Convention Center announce the agreement for the naming of the largest multifunctional congress center by the sea in the Northeast, which becomes Generali Convention Center Trieste.
The three-year partnership enhances Generali’s support for one of the first activities promoted within the Old Port, with the ambition of making the center an attractive venue for national and international conferences and events, and continues the Group’s investments in Trieste, a city with great growth potential, thanks to its wide network of excellence institutions in the scientific and university fields and the increasing activity of the port system.
The announcement was made today during a press meeting attended by Generali’s Group CFO, Cristiano Borean, the Group Chief Communications & Public Affairs Officer and Group spokesperson, Simone Bemporad, and the President of TCC, Roberto Morelli. The agreement includes a new coordinated image that will involve placing signs with the name on the buildings of the center and installing new signage in the area to facilitate visitors in identifying buildings and rooms.
Generali is a reference shareholder of the Convention Center, of which it holds 49% of the capital along with illycaffè (13%), Biovalley (8%), and sixty other shareholders holding small stakes up to 2% each. The center is located in the Old Port of Trieste, now Porto Vivo, and consists of two buildings, warehouses 27 and 28, which include the Generali Auditorium with 1920 seats, 5 rooms, a cafeteria, a terrace overlooking the sea, as well as 5,000 square meters of exhibition space, for a total of 10,000 square meters.
Simone Bemporad, Generali’s Group Chief Communications & Public Affairs Officer and Group spokesperson, stated: “Generali, among the leading global players in the insurance and asset management sectors worldwide, supports Trieste’s vocation to be a bridge between Mediterranean and Eastern European communities and cultures. A role that the city, where Generali was founded, has in its historical headquarters and where it has launched important initiatives like the Group’s Academy, has always been in its DNA. The partnership with the Trieste Convention Center, now Generali Convention Center Trieste, goes in this direction, so that the center can exercise its role as a congress and exhibition destination with even more strength and international appeal, while also supporting the city’s economy through a networked reality with the entire territorial system“.
Roberto Morelli, President of the Trieste Convention Center, said: “We are proud to announce this agreement with Generali, our reference shareholder and a group among the world leaders in insurance and asset management. With Generali, we share a deep bond with our hometown, Trieste, as well as the aspiration to excellence, attention to people, offering meeting places and services tailored to our customers, a vocation for innovation, and a forward-looking perspective. This partnership further enhances Trieste’s positioning as an international congress and tourist destination and confirms the significant economic impact on the territory of congress and exhibition events. The association with a prestigious brand like Generali is a source of pride for us and a lever to increase the attractiveness of our offer. It can be a fundamental driver for the recovery of the Old Port and the area’s capacity to attract excellent initiatives“.
The new logo
The new logo of the congress center, named Waterfront and developed in collaboration with the Trieste-based agency Loud, is based on the development of a highly stylized perspective version of a view from the sea of Pavilion 28, a pivotal, characteristic, and defining point of the Generali Convention Center Trieste. The sign, which recalls a wave as well as the silhouette of the center, combines the architectural element with the naturalistic one, developing the dialogue between the regularity of the structure and the sinuosity of the wave moved by the wind. A kind of balance in motion to represent a reality as composite as it is aggregating.
