27 April 2026Ricreatori: a unique institution in Trieste
4 May 2026Spring weekends are the perfect opportunity to discover (or rediscover) our region—even for those who already live here. If you are looking for inspiration, here are a few ideas:
Giardino Viatori: this is the ideal time of year to visit the lush garden created by Luciano Viatori in Gorizia. Among rhododendrons, azaleas, lilacs, hydrangeas, peonies, climbing roses, flowering plum and apple trees, and around one hundred magnolias at the peak of their beauty, visitors can enjoy a spectacular view over the city.
Duino Castle: located just outside Trieste, this historic residence offers the charm of a place steeped in legends, along with a breathtaking view of the Gulf. But there is much more: many historical events have taken place within these walls, which have also welcomed figures such as Princess Sissi, writers Gabriele D’Annunzio and Mark Twain, and poet Rainer Maria Rilke. In addition, the exhibition “Pezzi di Storia” (“Pieces of History”) recently opened: seven permanent installations made with LEGO bricks, displayed throughout the castle rooms in an original dialogue between the ancient and the contemporary.
Sutrio, not just nativity scenes: charming in spring as well, the event “Fums, profums, salums” provides the perfect opportunity to visit this picturesque town in Carnia. On Sunday, 26 April, eight restaurants in Sutrio and the surrounding area will offer tastings of dishes based on local smoked products: from pancetta to cotechino, from ricotta to trout, in a unique culinary journey full of flavour, paired with excellent wines from Friuli Venezia Giulia.
